The Process
How an FFL transfer works.

Ship to us
Have the seller's FFL ship the firearm to either of our stores. We'll email the shipper a copy of our FFL on request.
- 02
We receive & log
When the firearm arrives, we log it into our bound book and call/email you to schedule pickup.

You come in
Bring a valid Virginia driver's license or state-issued ID. Out-of-state ID? Call ahead — we'll walk through requirements.
- 04
4473 + background check
Complete the ATF Form 4473 at our counter and pass a NICS background check. Typical wait is minutes; occasionally delayed.
- 05
Pay transfer fee & leave with firearm
Pay the transfer fee (current rate at the counter) and take your firearm home. If the check delays, we'll hold it until cleared.
FAQ
Common transfer questions.
Do you accept transfers from private sellers and online retailers?
Yes. Once the shipping FFL sends us a copy of their license and the firearm arrives, we'll notify you to come in, complete a Form 4473, and pass a background check. Bring a valid Virginia driver's license or ID.
What's the transfer fee?
Transfer fees are on the schedule at each store. Call us for the current rate.
What firearms will you not transfer?
We cannot transfer firearms that are illegal to possess in Virginia, are not serialized properly, or that arrive with documentation issues we can't resolve. We'll work with you to sort out any problem shipments.
